Display Cabinet

48″ x 15″ x 42″

Hard maple, glass, brass, LED lights

This was a very interesting project to not only design but to build. The fun came in matching the bent laminations for the moldings around the glass to the curve of the bent glass. And once that was done I had to figure out how to rout those curved pieces. Then, just how do you hold the glass in place? With flat pieces, you just make retaining strips that you can either pin in, or you can use glazing points, but that is not so easy to do with curved glass, especially when those inside areas are going to be visible due to the curved ends of the cabinet. And then you get to install the glass shelves, that only have an 1/8″ clearance all the way around. Anyway, it was a fun project, and I learned a lot – both what TO do and what NOT to do!
